Xiaomi, The Chienese Smartphone Maker have already captured its market segment in India as a ‘budget smartphone maker’. It is known for its offering feature-filled products at low prices. While this image definitely helped this Smartphone maker for the penetration of Indian Smartphone Market but Mi5 is certainly going to be harder for the company in terms of ‘budgetary smartphone’.  The Mi 5 is one of the most expensive offering from this company and signals a break  away from its budgetary thesis. 

Contrary to its above budget price specification, it can take on Samsung Galaxy S7 in terms of technical specifications for premium buyers. 

Xiaomi Mi 5 design and build quality 

It is glass-smooth and similarly curved shape like the Galaxy S7.  But cons are for special protection from shocks, water or dust aren’t built in.  The outer edget feels a bit ‘cutty’ in the hand. But overall look is beautiful.  There is a feature to use home button as capacitive button. Hence the user doesn’t need to press return in order to return to Home screen. 

Xiaomi Mi 5 display & Processor 

The MI 5 comes in white with a super thin design and lightweight body that weighs just 129 G.  Enjoy movies and games on this phones 5.15 inch display that offers clear visuals, even in the sunlight. For night-time reading, switch to reading mode to reduce blue light emission, which is better for your eyes.

Mi5's full HD LCD unit is coupled with maxium brightness up to 600 cd/m². It has a option to control over displaybrightness since it has inbuilt pixel-level adaptive contrast. It has Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor and its hexagon subunit. Since it regulates brightness hence you can feel comfortable with less bright in white areas and more brightness in dark areas of your smartphone.

Quickly switch between apps and videos with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor. The MI 5 includes 3 GB of dual-channel  RAM and 32 GB UFS 2.0 flash to ensure high performance. 

Camera 

It has a 16 MP primary camera with a LED flash ( Dual Tone) and 4MP front camera with 2 micron pixel. The primary camera ( Real Camera) has a capacity of shooting video up to 4K while the front camera is capable of shooting HD Vedio at 30fps. It is powered with four-axisw optical image stabilisation for the rear camera which helps user taking quick shots and also vidoes. Using eight direction vibration detection, the phone is able to adjust the camera posture and movement and produce a stable shot.

Connectivity , Storage & Battery. 

Apart from its look and design it has multirole connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-SIM connectivity with 4G-capability on both SIM-slots. It has also USB type-C port for connectivity and charging as well.  This model houses a 3000 mAh lithium-polymer battery that boasts a standby time of up to 8 days! With the Quick Charge 3.0 software included, you can enjoy up to 4 hours of talk time with only a 10 minute charge. This is what the company claims, however the feedback that we have received says it can last only one day. The only cons of this phone is that it is non-expandable. It is limited to 32GB internal storage only.  Though there are other variants of 64 & 128 GB available in china but they are not sold in India yet.
